Green Thumbs Up

At Aravalley, our philosophy is that if we respect nature, it will provide its bounty. We look for every opportunity to be “green”. Our growers are environmentally aware, and that they minimize their use of pesticides and fertilizers through organic control measures. We conduct ongoing sample checks for residues.

We also make extensive use of the latest technologies. In fact, farming in the Arava valley today is the most advanced, high-tech desert agriculture in the world. Our produce is grown in energy efficient enclosed net houses and green houses. We carefully monitor our water use. We work tirelessly to reduce our need for precious resources.

In addition, Aravalley has a long-established policy of recycling. This includes paper, cardboard, wood, and metals. We compost extensively. We separate and reuse plastic and nylon and we recycle these materials too.

Aravalley is committed to improving quality and yields while minimizing our environmental impact.
In this effort, we have partnered with the Clean Arava project.

The Clean Arava Project

Clean Arava is a regional initiative to control and eliminate quarantine pests in the Arava valley. The program mandates agricultural practices to prevent the transfer of pests and pathogens such as the Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata) between farms and from season to season. It also limits chemical use for pesticide-free produce. As a Clean Arava partner, Aravalley’s agricultural produce meets the highest international standards of quality and freshness.
